Hosiery can make your legs stand out and so it's important to treat it with care so that it lasts for as long as possible. Here are some of the best tips to get the most from your hosiery:-
- Washing - When washing tights use a laundry bag to keep the tights away from other items in the wash.If you don't have a mesh laundry bag then use a pillow case to protect them.
- Drying - Hang or lay flat to air dry. This way sheer hosiery is less likely to tear or pull.
- Sizing - One of the most common ways that hosiery gets damaged is because the wearer has bought the wrong size. Hosiery is often stretchy but wearing tights just one size too small means the fabric is more susceptible to wear and tear as it is being stretched farther than it was meant to go. So when buying hosiery always have a look at the size guide as they do vary between brands.
- Keep your nails trim - Always keep a nail file handy so that you only put on tights with nice smooth nails. Rough nails can catch tights, especially fine denier ones.
- Be careful with jewellery - Before putting on hosiery make sure that any jewellery with prominent edges is not going to come into contact with it.
- Put hosiery on correctly - Roll a leg of the tights down until you reach the toe with your fingers and pull over the toes and foot and then gently up the leg. Then do the same with the other leg. Do it slowly as well so as not to put too much strain on the material.
- Remove carefully - Take care when taking hosiery off. It is just as important taking hosiery off as it is pulling it on. Do it gently and slowly
